Big News: Innosuisse Backs Our Vision for Smarter Energy Grids

The energy transition is accelerating. Solar PV installations are expanding rapidly, and decentralized energy production is becoming the norm. However, while the energy landscape is evolving, the tools used to predict and manage grid stability have not kept pace.

Grid operators face significant challenges—sharp fluctuations in PV production, unpredictable electricity demand, and increasing grid congestion. Traditional forecasting methods struggle to keep up, making it difficult to maintain stability and efficiency in real time.

That is why we are excited to announce a major milestone: Innosuisse has awarded us a grant to develop a next-generation AI-powered forecasting engine that will transform how Distribution System Operators (DSOs) manage the grid.

Building the Future of Smart Energy Management

Our AI-driven forecasting engine will provide DSOs with the intelligence they need to anticipate and address grid challenges before they occur. This will include:

  • More accurate PV production forecasting to improve predictability and stability
  • Smarter load forecasting to help prevent overloads and blackouts
  • Advanced grid congestion and voltage forecasting to solve problems before they escalate

By leveraging cutting-edge machine learning models, our solution will enable grid operators to better balance supply and demand, minimize inefficiencies, and enhance grid resilience—all crucial steps in ensuring a successful energy transition.

Collaborating with an Outstanding Team

This project is possible thanks to the support of key partners who share our commitment to a smarter, more resilient energy future. We are working with:

  • Research Leaders: HSLU, HEI-VS, FHNW
  • Implementation Partners: CEEX, Secure Switzerland, EWN
  • Supporters: Energie Thun, EnergiezukunftSchweiz, Swissgrid, VSE, Solarmanager

A special thank you to the @Migros Pioneer Fund for making it possible to work on our vision and for enabling us from the very beginning of our journey.

What’s Next?

This project is not just about improving forecasting—it is about unlocking the full potential of decentralized energy and ensuring that DSOs have the intelligence they need to keep the grid stable, efficient, and prepared for the future.

We will be sharing updates as we move forward—stay tuned as we bring this vision to life.
